The Philippine National Police (PNP) is set to hire 279 new officers for the Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region this year, with the recruitment process starting this month.

Applicants for patrolman and patrolwoman positions can apply for 111 slots under the regular quota and 168 slots under the attrition quota.

Col. Jacob Crisostomo, chief of the Regional Recruitment and Selection Unit-NIR, said on Tuesday that the 2026 quota is smaller compared to the 420 openings offered in 2025.

He added that an information drive for prospective applicants will begin next week. The application period starts in March, while the tentative oath-taking for successful candidates is scheduled between July and the first week of August.

A patrolman or patrolwoman receives a monthly base pay of Php 31,151.

The RSSU is tasked with implementing policies and guidelines that govern the PNP recruitment and selection process in the region.

Crisostomo said the goal of the recruitment process is to ensure transparency and hire qualified and responsible individuals for the PNP.

For those applying under PRO-NIR, application folders must be submitted to the RSSU office at the Bacolod City Police Office compound.
