A man listed among the region’s most wanted individuals was arrested by police in Camarines Sur on Monday night, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
Authorities said the suspect, a widowed farmer, was apprehended around 9:30 p.m. in Barangay Duwang Niyog in Libmanan.
The arrest was carried out by a tracker team from the Mercedes Municipal Police Station, with assistance from other police and support units in the region.
The operation was based on a warrant issued by a Family Court in Daet, Camarines Norte in connection with multiple charges of rape through sexual assault.
Police said one of the cases carried a recommended bail of Php200,000, while the remaining charges were non bailable.
The suspect was taken into custody and is now under police supervision pending further legal proceedings.
PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the arrest highlighted the coordination among law enforcement units in tracking down wanted persons.
He added that operations will continue as part of efforts to strengthen public safety and ensure accountability.
