The Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Wednesday that a high-ranking Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) suspect was arrested in Masbate province.
The suspect, identified by the alias “Rodel,” was listed as the No. 2 Regional Most Wanted Person and was apprehended in a joint police operation in Esperanza town on February 3, the PNP said.
The operation was led by the Police Regional Office 5 following intelligence efforts that tracked the suspect’s movements in the area.
Authorities said the suspect was facing a murder case with no recommended bail and was allegedly involved in violent activities linked to CTG operations in Masbate.
After his arrest, the suspect was brought to the Esperanza Municipal Police Station for booking, documentation, and legal proceedings.
PNP Chief Police Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. acknowledged the arrest and said police operations against wanted persons remained focused on public safety.
The PNP said it would continue intelligence-driven and coordinated operations against armed groups and other high-risk individuals nationwide.
