The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has released a special series of coins to honor the country’s vibrant festivals and its upcoming role as chair of the 2026 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit.
On November 26, BSP Governor Felipe Remolona Jr. presented the “Pista sa Pilipinas: 100-Piso Philippine Festivals Commemorative Silver Coin Series” and the “10-Piso ASEAN Coin” to President Ferdinand Marcos at Malacañang Palace.
According to the BSP, these coins are intended to highlight the Philippines’ rich cultural heritage, increase public awareness, and promote interest in the country’s leadership role in ASEAN next year, while also fostering a broader appreciation of regional cooperation.
The presentation of the 10-piso ASEAN coin also included Department of Foreign Affairs officials Aian Caringal, Director-General for Operations Chief of Staff, and Assistant Secretary Anne Hernando, alongside BSP Deputy Governor Mamerto Tangonan.
