Marking a decade of collaboration toward greener dining, the Philippine Sustainability Movement celebrated its 10th anniversary at Sheraton Manila Hotel, uniting leaders from the hospitality, retail, and advocacy sectors to set a bold course for the future of sustainable, traceable food systems.
Founded by Pristine Solutions, the milestone gathering underscored the drive to advance organic practices, promote certified responsibility, and strengthen food traceability from farm to fork.
Christian Schmidradner, founder of Pristine Solutions and initiator of the movement, reflected on how far the community has come. “In ten years, we’ve built a strong platform for collaboration among businesses, NGOs, and government agencies dedicated to environmental stewardship, ethical sourcing, and food transparency,” he said. “The next chapter is about making sustainability more accessible—helping more organizations embrace responsible practices that deliver real impact for our people and our planet.”
The event featured interactive discussions and experience rooms centered on organic transformation, plastics reduction, animal welfare, and ESG integration in hospitality and retail. Among the key moments was the launch of PYC Foods and One World Deli’s ESG and Sustainability Framework, a blueprint to embed environmental and social accountability into daily food operations.
“Trust and traceability are now the foundation of how we build food businesses,” shared Roscila Anne Baylon, Head of Nutrition and Wellness at PYC Foods. “Our ESG program ensures that every product we serve is safe, nutritious, and responsibly sourced—because consumers deserve transparency about where their food comes from.”
Representing the global organic community, Alexandra S. Castillo of Naturland e.V. emphasized that organic farming is at the heart of resilient food systems. “Organic goes beyond protecting the environment—it nurtures animal welfare, biodiversity, and community well-being,” she said. “At Naturland, we empower farmers and consumers alike to make choices that sustain both people and the planet.”
The event also tied in with the ongoing “European Organic: Nurturing Every Juan” campaign, supported by the European Union and implemented by Naturland. The initiative seeks to make European organic products more accessible to Filipino consumers while deepening understanding of what it truly means to go organic.
Over the past decade, the Philippine Sustainability Movement has grown into a unifying force for change, engaging hotels, restaurants, retailers, and organizations like Greenpeace, Control Union Philippines, PAWS, WWF Philippines, and the UN Global Compact Network Philippines. Together, they have fostered greater awareness and adoption of sustainable practices across the local food and hospitality sectors.
Looking ahead, the movement aims to scale its impact—pushing for more resilient, responsible, and transparent food systems that reflect a shared commitment to accountability and sustainability for the next generation.
