Philippine Pavilion Bags Silver Award at Expo 2025 Osaka

The Philippine Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka has won the Silver Award for Exhibition Design, as announced by the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) on Monday.

The award recognizes “self-built pavilions under 1,500 square meters that demonstrate exceptional exhibit design and storytelling,” according to the TPB statement. It was conferred by the Bureau International des Expositions, the body overseeing World Expos.

Since opening in April, the pavilion has attracted over a million visitors, highlighting the Philippines’ creativity and craftsmanship. Themed “Nature, Culture & Community: Woven Together for a Better Future,” it featured AI-powered installations, traditional weaves, culinary displays, and live performances.

As the first Philippine pavilion with a live performance facade in World Expo history, it displayed over 200 handwoven panels from weaving communities across all 18 regions—the largest such collaboration, per the TPB. Inside, highlights included 18 large-scale handwoven art pieces, the generative algorithm-driven “Dancing with Nature” installation, AI photobooths, the Habi Shop, and a Hilot wellness corner.

Key elements will be repatriated to the National Museum of the Philippines and regional sites. Some components are slated for use at the ASEAN Tourism Forum and Travex in Cebu in January 2026.

Expo 2025 Osaka ran from April 13 to October 13.
