The Philippine Navy deployed naval vessels across the Visayas to strengthen maritime security during the 20th ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM) held in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu, from October 28 to 29, 2026.

The deployment formed part of the government’s security preparations to ensure the safety of delegates and the peaceful conduct of the regional defense gathering attended by representatives of ASEAN member states.

According to the Philippine Navy, the vessels augmented the ADMM Task Unit Navy and conducted maritime security patrols in support of the security operations surrounding the event.

The patrols were intended to maintain a secure maritime environment and complement the security measures implemented by other government agencies during the two-day meeting.

The Navy said its participation demonstrated its continuing commitment to safeguarding Philippine waters while supporting major international engagements hosted by the country.

The deployment also highlighted the importance of maritime security cooperation among ASEAN member states amid evolving regional security challenges.

The ADMM serves as a key platform for defense ministers in Southeast Asia to discuss regional security concerns, strengthen cooperation, and promote peace and stability.

The Philippine Navy reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the country’s maritime interests, strengthening interoperability with partner nations, and contributing to regional security.

It added that maintaining a strong maritime security presence remains essential in supporting international engagements and ensuring the safety of participants during major regional events.
