PhilHealth has marked a milestone in its newest healthcare initiative after releasing its first payment under the GAMOT (Guaranteed Access to Medicines and Outpatient Treatment) program—well before the agency’s 15-day processing pledge. The initial turnover went to CGD Medical Depot Inc., a PhilHealth-accredited retail pharmacy located at Ayala Malls Vertis North in Quezon City.

GAMOT, the latest enhancement to the YAKAP primary care package, extends outpatient drug benefits by covering 75 essential medicines—adding 54 new drugs to the original 21. The expanded list spans treatments for infectious diseases, asthma and COPD, diabetes, hypertension, heart ailments, high cholesterol, and nervous system conditions, alongside vital supportive therapies.

This development answers President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call in his recent SONA to make life-saving medicines affordable and within reach of every Filipino.

“This is more than just a payment to a partner pharmacy—it is the fulfillment of our promise to bring medicines closer to those who need them,” said PhilHealth Acting President and CEO Dr. Edwin M. Mercado during the turnover ceremony in Makati City.

PhilHealth is working hand in hand with FDA-licensed retail pharmacies nationwide, ensuring members can conveniently claim their prescribed medicines at accredited GAMOT outlets. To access these benefits, members are encouraged to use the eGovPH mobile app for easy registration, YAKAP clinic selection, primary care provider choosing, and appointment scheduling.

As of September 3, there are already 41 GAMOT-accredited facilities operating across Metro Manila, with more set to open in the coming months. Members may check the updated list of facilities on the PhilHealth website: PhilHealth GAMOT Accredited Facilities.
