BEIJING, CHINA — The Philippines made waves at the Diving, Resort, and Travel (DRT) Show Beijing 2025, emerging as a standout destination for island tourism and scuba diving. The country not only generated over P144 million in sales leads but also clinched the prestigious Island Charm Award for its exceptional promotion of its underwater and coastal treasures.
Held from August 8 to 10 at the China National Convention Center, the event was led by the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines and the Philippine Department of Tourism (PDOT)-Beijing. The award highlighted the Philippines’ growing reputation as a premier dive destination, thanks to the dedicated efforts of PDOT-Beijing and TPB.
The Philippine booth proved a major crowd-puller, attracting dive enthusiasts and travel agents alike through engaging business-to-business sessions. On the main stage, two captivating presentations captured the audience’s imagination: “Dive Bicol: Explore New Depths, Discover Endless Wonders” by Joseph Trilles, DOT Region V Senior Tourism Operations Officer, and “Philippines: The Heart of Asia’s Diving” by Ireneo Reyes, Tourism Attaché for PDOT-Beijing. Both showcased the country’s underwater wonders and vibrant marine biodiversity.
“DRT Show Beijing 2025 was an incredible opportunity to connect with the Chinese dive market and shine a spotlight on the Philippines’ world-class dive experiences,” said TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles. “The partnerships and connections we’ve built here will strengthen our presence in the Asia-Pacific market and inspire more travelers to explore our dive destinations.”

The Philippine booth drew strong interest from Chinese divers and travel enthusiasts at DRT Show Beijing 2025.
A standout highlight was the Philippine Dive Night, a B2B networking event that brought together 50 Chinese dive operators, Philippine dive resorts, and tourism stakeholders. Discussions centered on collaboration and partnership opportunities, setting the stage for future growth in the dive tourism sector.
Notable attendees included H.E. Ambassador Jaime FlorCruz of the Philippine Embassy in China, Arnel Talisayon, Deputy Chief of Mission, Jason Chong, Founder of DRT Show, and senior representatives from Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific Air, and PADI, among others.
The DRT Show is Asia’s premier international diving exhibition, drawing diving enthusiasts and marine conservationists from across the globe. Following Beijing, the Philippines will also showcase its diving allure at DRT shows in Taiwan, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
