PH, US troops hold socio-civic programs ahead of Balikatan

Filipino and American troops have renovated a school building in Bulacan and conducted a medical and dental mission in Cagayan as part of socio-civic programs leading up to the 2024 Balikatan Exercises.

According to Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, the renovation of the Barangay Pulong Sampaloc Elementary School in Doña Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan, is nearly finished.

“Patunay dito ito ang commitment ng AFP at ng US Armed Forces para makatulong sa lokal na komunidad,” she said, highlighting the joint commitment of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the US Armed Forces to support local communities.

In Cagayan, troops held a medical and dental mission in Barangay Dagupan, Lal-lo, benefiting 129 residents.

Castro noted that the initiative aligns with the broader goals of the Balikatan Exercises, particularly in uplifting communities through humanitarian assistance.

The annual Balikatan drills, which aim to enhance interoperability between the Philippine and US military forces, are scheduled to begin on April 21.
