Filipino firms under the Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP) secured USD79 million (approximately PHP4.5 billion) worth of contracts at the recently concluded Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) Global Health Conference and Exhibition held in Las Vegas.
Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque emphasized the Philippines’ growing role as a prime destination for backend support in the healthcare industry, citing the country’s “culture of care” and robust BPO infrastructure as key assets.
“The Philippines stands uniquely positioned to cater to the demands of the global healthcare information management sector,” Roque said. “Our inherent culture of care translates to patient-centric services, and with our technical capabilities, we offer a human touch that is paramount in healthcare.”
Export Marketing Bureau Director Bianca Pearl Sykimte echoed this sentiment, noting that the Philippines is well on its way to becoming a global leader in healthcare information management services (HIMS), thanks to strong economic performance, policy reforms, and investment in workforce development.
Filipino participants at HIMSS 2024, held from March 3 to 7, included ADEC Innovations Healthcare, Inspiro, iReply Back Office Services, Inc., JBW Managed Services and Consulting, Office Symmetry, Pointwest Innovations Corporation, RCM Staff BPO, VISAYA, Wagmi Phil and Call Center Power, and WorldSource.
HIMAP board member John Dave Dueñas reported that the Philippine HIMS sector generated USD4.2 billion in revenue in 2024, employing around 190,000 full-time workers. “Our blend of technical expertise and cultural empathy positions the Philippines as the preferred destination for payer, provider, and life sciences outsourcing,” he added.
