PH, Myanmar battle to draw in AMEC clash

The Philippine men’s football team managed to share the spoils with Myanmar at the start of its ASEAN Mitsubishi Electric Cup (AMEC) campaign as they battled to a 1-1 draw on Thursday night at Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

Bjorn Kristensen denied Myanmar of a shock win after scoring a penalty in the 72nd minute which canceled Maung Maung Lwin’s 25th-minute opener.

Myanmar actually had a chance to go 2-0 but a video assistant referee review ruled out the second goal after it was confirmed that it was offside.

However, despite ruling the possession game, 62-38, and having more shots and shots on target, the Philippines could not close out Myanmar.

Both teams are now at one point each, but the Philippines is in third due to goal difference. (PNA)
