Amman, Jordan — The Philippine Embassy in Jordan has issued a public safety advisory for all Filipinos in the kingdom, following heightened security alerts from the Jordanian government amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The advisory, based on guidelines from the National Center for Security and Crisis Management of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, outlines critical instructions in the event of air sirens or falling unidentified objects—a reflection of growing concerns tied to the regional fallout from the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict.

What to do when sirens are heard
The embassy urges Filipinos to take immediate precautions depending on their location when air sirens go off:
- Outdoors: Seek shelter in the nearest building. If that’s not possible, lie flat on the ground, cover your head, and stay near a wall or low-lying area.
- Inside Vehicles: Pull over safely and stay inside the car.
- Indoors: Stay away from windows and refrain from using elevators in case of a power outage.
In all cases, residents are advised to:
- Call 911 for emergencies involving injuries or property damage.
- Avoid spreading rumors or misinformation.
- Rely only on official sources of information.
- Limit phone use to emergencies to avoid overloading the communication network.

If unidentified objects fall from the sky
With recent missile movements across regional airspace, including through Iraq, Syria, and Jordan, Filipinos are also being cautioned on how to respond to debris or unidentified objects:
- Do not approach or touch the object.
- Stay at a safe distance and immediately notify authorities via 911.
- Do not gather at the site or post photos or videos online.
- Remain calm and ensure the safety of family members.
- Limit phone usage to critical calls.
Authorities emphasized that fallen objects may pose risks of explosion or chemical contamination, and should be treated as hazardous.
