
MANILA — The Philippines, through the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), chaired a key Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting aimed at strengthening regional cooperation on future-ready skills and human capital development.
The country led the APEC Human Resources Development Working Group Capacity Building Network (CBN) Meeting held on Sept. 18, 2026 at the Nanjing Dongjiao Guesthouse in Nanjing, Jiangsu, China.
The meeting brought together representatives from APEC economies to discuss capacity-building initiatives and cooperation in developing skills needed to respond to changing labor market demands.
Through its leadership in the meeting, DOLE highlighted the Philippines’ participation in regional efforts to strengthen workforce development and prepare workers for emerging industries and evolving workplace requirements.
The Capacity Building Network is part of the APEC Human Resources Development Working Group, which promotes cooperation among member economies in areas including education, skills development, labor and employment.
