Perpetual ends skid with sweep of Mapua in V-League

Perpetual Help snapped its two-game losing streak with a dominant sweep of Mapua University, 25-13, 25-9, 25-13, in the 2025 V-League Collegiate Challenge on Saturday at Paco Arena in Manila.

Pauline Mae Reyes led the Lady Altas with 12 points, while Jernalyn Menor added 11. Geraldine Rae Palacio contributed 10 points from five attacks, three blocks, and three aces.

“This team is quite new. The chemistry is something I’m still looking for in the line up inside. That’s why I’ve been rotating the starting six in the past,” said coach Sandy Rieta after the 72-minute match.

Perpetual overwhelmed Mapua with 42 attacks and seven aces, with setter Fianne Ariola tallying 14 excellent sets and five points of her own.

“We are now in the status of a learning system. What were our weaknesses, our errors last season, we’ll try to replace them with good ones,” Rieta added.

Mapua, now on a three-game skid, was led by Freighanne Garcia and Alex Leabres with four points each.

Perpetual will next face Letran on August 23, while Mapua will also take on Letran the following day.
