PDEA reports 29,677 barangays cleared of drugs under Marcos Administration

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) announced on Thursday that 29,677 out of 42,036 barangays nationwide have been declared drug-free since the start of the Marcos administration, with 5,815 more in the process of clearance as part of the ongoing anti-narcotics campaign. This update is based on PDEA’s data as of September 2025, reflecting efforts to combat drug-related issues across communities.

A barangay is classified as drug-affected based on the presence of illegal drug users, pushers, manufacturers, marijuana cultivators, or related infrastructure. The agency uses three levels to assess affectation: slightly affected (presence of users and drug personalities), moderately affected (presence of users, pushers, and personalities), and seriously affected (existence of drug labs, dens, dives, resorts, or marijuana plantations).

The campaign has yielded significant results, including the seizure of narcotics worth PHP88.54 billion from July 2022 to September 2025. This includes 11,837.59 kg of shabu, 103.51 kg of cocaine, 145,023 ecstasy tablets, and 7,796.59 kg of marijuana. PDEA conducted 127,417 operations during this period, resulting in 170,535 arrests, with 10,631 being high-value targets. Additionally, 1,621 drug dens and five clandestine shabu laboratories were dismantled.

These achievements underscore the government’s commitment to eradicating drug problems, enhancing community safety, and supporting law enforcement efforts nationwide.
