MANILA – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has recorded more than 114,000 passengers passing through ports nationwide as Filipinos observe this year’s Undas *All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day).

In its latest tally Saturday, the PCG said it already logged at least 60,411 outbound passengers and 54,291 inbound passengers.

The PCG has deployed a total of 6,221 frontline personnel from 17 PCG Districts to facilitate safe and efficient travel and has so far conducted inspections on 540 vessels and 806 motorbancas.

“Nananatiling naka-heightened alert ang mga tauhan ng PCG sa pagbibigay ng assistance sa mga pasahero, pagsasagawa ng safety inspection at pagbabantay sa pantalan upang matiyak ang maayos at ligtas na biyahe (Our PCG personnel remain on heightened alert to provide assistance to passengers, conduct safety inspections and monitor ports to ensure orderly and safe travel),” it said Saturday.

“Pinapaalalahanan din ang publiko na sumunod sa mga alituntunin at itinakdang safety protocols sa pantalan at mga sasakyang pandagat (The public is also reminded to follow the instructions and established safety protocols at ports and sea vessels).”

The PCG has placed all its districts, stations and sub-stations on heightened alert since Oct. 29 in anticipation of the increased volume of passengers traveling during the long weekend.

PCG spokesperson Commodore Noemie Cayabyab earlier said they expect the number of travelers to reach two million this year. (PNA)
