MANILA – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is intensifying vessel inspections and preparing to deploy 17,000 personnel nationwide to ensure maritime safety during the Undas 2026 travel rush.
In an update on Saturday, October 24, the PCG said it expects approximately 1.5 million to 2 million sea passengers from October 29 to November 3 as Filipinos travel to their home provinces for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
As part of its heightened safety measures, the agency is coordinating with vessel masters and shipping companies to ensure proper cargo stowage and securing arrangements aboard roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) and passenger vessels.
The inspections aim to prevent maritime accidents and ensure compliance with safety regulations amid the anticipated increase in passenger and cargo movements.
The deployment of Coast Guard personnel is intended to strengthen monitoring and safety operations at ports and aboard vessels throughout the holiday period.
The PCG said the intensified preparations form part of its efforts to safeguard passengers and maintain safe maritime operations during one of the country’s busiest travel seasons.
