As the global conversation around blockchain technology continues to evolve, the much-anticipated Philippine Blockchain Week returns for its 2025 edition from June 10–11, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center Manila.
Building on its strong momentum since 2022 and the successful PBWx regional roadshow series in 2024, this year’s gathering promises to dive deep into groundbreaking innovations driving blockchain growth and adoption.
Dr. Donald Lim, founding president of the Blockchain Council of the Philippines, emphasized the importance of collaboration between the tech and government sectors, “The Philippine Blockchain Week has become the premier platform for driving blockchain and Web3 adoption in the country, and we are proud to have the strong support of key government agencies as well as local government units in pushing the blockchain agenda.”

The theme for this year, “DECODED,” embodies the Philippine Blockchain Week’s mission to demystify blockchain and showcase its transformative potential. Embraced by Web3 communities, the event will spotlight hot topics like DeFi, GameFi, DePIN, NFTs, and DAOs, linking them with real-world applications across sectors including healthcare, real estate, education, commerce, retail, and supply chain logistics.
With strong community backing, DECODED will shine a spotlight on blockchain’s most engaging entry points—gaming, music, and entertainment—bridging the gap between mainstream audiences and Web3 technology.

Government support driving blockchain growth
The role of government is vital in promoting widespread digital transformation. Agencies like the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and Department of Science and Technology (DOST) are leading the way in endorsing blockchain initiatives.
Their robust support places the Philippines at the forefront of blockchain innovation, creating a thriving environment for growth.
Dr. Lim commented, “The blockchain community is working closely with the government sector to support the adoption of blockchain technology to improve governance—particularly in areas such as trade, agriculture, finance, education, healthcare, tax and revenue collection, and other critical sectors.”
“The goal is to make data recording immutable and tamper-proof, which is essential in building trust and transparency in public service,” he explained.
With a young, tech-savvy population, the Philippines stands out as a vibrant hub for technology adoption. Filipino consumers consistently rank high in global tech adoption metrics, and the booming gaming industry further strengthens the country’s position as fertile ground for blockchain penetration.
Bridging the Web2 to Web3 gap
One of the unique highlights of PBW 2025 is the collaboration with industry leaders like Tier One Entertainment, Southeast Asia’s largest KOL agency, which will host Nexus Academia in SMX Hall 4 for fans of gaming, music, and the arts.
Another major event is the launch of IDOL QUEST by MetaStar, a Web3-powered entertainment platform revolutionizing fan engagement with NFT-gated experiences, decentralized governance (DAOs), and fan-driven content. From June 10–11, MetaStar will hold auditions to find the next big star in P-Pop.
