MANILA — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally welcomed returning overseas Filipino workers and their families as he led this year’s “Tara sa Palasyo” Christmas celebration at Malacañan Palace, turning the historic seat of government into a festive space dedicated to gratitude, family, and homecoming.
Held at the Kalayaan Grounds, the gathering brought together about 400 OFWs and loved ones for a day of activities centered on togetherness, entertainment, and recognition of the sacrifices made by migrant workers. Marcos mingled with attendees and joined several program segments, underscoring the administration’s message that the holiday season is a time to acknowledge the quiet heroism of Filipinos working far from home.
In a message shared on social media, the President said the celebration was meant to remind OFWs that they are not alone and that the government remains ready to support them. He described migrant workers as modern-day heroes whose contributions continue to sustain families and help drive national development, extending his Christmas greetings to both workers and their families.
The event was organized by the Department of Migrant Workers in partnership with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, reflecting ongoing efforts to keep OFW welfare at the forefront of government programs, particularly during the holidays.
Entertainment highlighted the celebratory mood, with live performances from the top three winners of the OWWA Duets Singing Competition 2025. As part of the broader Paskong Pinoy activities, attendees also watched the classic Filipino film Anak, directed by Rory Quintos and starring Vilma Santos and Claudine Barretto, a screening meant to honor the emotional toll and family sacrifices associated with working overseas.
Now in its fourth year, “Tara sa Palasyo” continues to open the Palace grounds to the public each Christmas season, offering a warm and inclusive atmosphere. The program features carnival and amusement rides for children, live music and singing performances, film showings, and an array of traditional Filipino Christmas food, reinforcing the spirit of welcome and shared celebration at the heart of the holidays.
