PBBM announces quarterly performance reviews for Government Agencies

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced on Tuesday his plan to conduct “quarterly” performance reviews within the government as part of his efforts to recalibrate its operations.

During an interview at Malacañang, Marcos clarified that this initiative does not constitute a Cabinet revamp, emphasizing that the latest move is “not a one-shot, one-time, big-time thing.”

“You know, I have to explain that it’s not a Cabinet revamp. What we really did was we are still in the process of examining. Now, nasa baba na tayo (we’re already at the bottom). What happened really here was that I put everyone on notice that you are all on, basically all on probation,” he stated.

Marcos elaborated that this ongoing process aims to ensure that all government agencies and departments are held accountable for their performance. “It is essentially putting all government agencies, departments on notice that we have to do better. And we will be looking very, very closely and we will make that review on a periodic basis. Maybe a quarterly basis,” he added.

He mentioned that government undersecretaries are now under performance review, indicating that the evaluation will be “more rigorous” and will encompass not just top officials but all levels of government personnel. “Titignan natin, ‘yung mga target ba natin, nakuha ba natin (We’ll see if we’re able to attain our target) on a quarterly basis. And we’ll be much, much more rigorous in looking at the performance, not only at the top level, but all the way. All the way,” Marcos said.

The President also indicated that the public can expect “more changes in the future.”

On May 22, Marcos ordered Cabinet secretaries, heads of agencies with Cabinet rank, and other presidential advisers and assistants to resign from their respective posts following the 2025 midterm elections, as part of efforts to recalibrate his administration’s priorities and services.
