The municipal government of Manaoag is set to receive a Php 15-million farm-to-market road project intended to improve access between two farming communities.

Mayor Jeremy Rosario said the planned road would link Barangays Pugaro and Sapang, giving residents and farmers a more direct route for transporting crops, supplies and other goods.

The project will be financed through the Local Government Support Fund, which provides assistance to local governments for priority infrastructure and community programs.

Rosario said the town had already submitted its request and was waiting for the Department of the Interior and Local Government to issue final guidance before the bidding process could begin.

He said the fund allowed local governments to pursue projects based on the immediate needs of their communities, particularly in areas where access and public services remained limited.

Manaoag had also started distributing rice assistance to 1,286 residents from vulnerable sectors, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities, parking attendants and candle vendors near the Minor Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag.

Each beneficiary was scheduled to receive 10 kilograms of rice every two months, equivalent to six distributions in one year. Rosario said the subsidy would help ease food expenses among low-income households.

The mayor also welcomed the online monitoring system for the program, saying it supported transparency in the use of public funds. The Local Government Support Fund and the Socio-Civic Projects Fund form part of government assistance for local development and community-based initiatives.
