MANILA – Malacañang on Wednesday hit back at Vice President Sara Duterte, saying she only has herself to blame for the controversies surrounding her amid her ongoing impeachment trial.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro issued the statement as she criticized Duterte over issues involving bank accounts and financial transactions being examined during the Senate impeachment proceedings.
“Kung may sumisira man kay Bise Presidente, siya ang may kagagawan nun sa sarili niya,” Castro said.
She further alleged that Duterte’s camp benefits whenever attention is diverted to claims involving bank accounts supposedly linked to foreigners and alleged drug lords.
The remarks came as the Senate impeachment court continued hearing testimony from officials of banks and other financial institutions concerning accounts and transactions presented in connection with the impeachment case against Duterte.
The allegations against the Vice President remain subject to the impeachment proceedings, where her defense has disputed the prosecution’s interpretation of financial records.
