Malacañang on Wednesday rejected circulating claims that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is suffering from colon cancer, describing the allegations as false and misleading.
The denial came after online posts questioned the president’s health, citing a photo that allegedly showed a physical abnormality and fueling speculation about a serious illness.
Palace officials said the rumors had no factual basis and warned that unfounded claims about the president’s condition could undermine public confidence in the government and even have economic repercussions.
They also criticized the spread of unverified information on social media, noting that recent public appearances by Marcos contradicted the claims being circulated online.
According to Malacañang, video footage from a public event showed the president moving normally and interacting with the crowd, which officials said disproved the health allegations.
The Palace added that similar rumors about Marcos’ supposed medical procedures had surfaced in the past and were likewise denied after the President publicly assured Filipinos that he was in good health.
Malacañang reiterated that Marcos remains fit for duty and urged the public to rely on verified sources rather than speculation shared online.
