The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) marked Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) with an agency-wide orientation on the responsible use of artificial intelligence, focusing on Microsoft Copilot and its governance safeguards. The session, held on September 30, aligned with this year’s theme, “Reimagining Governance in the Age of AI.”
Conducted online via Microsoft Teams, the Microsoft Copilot Chat Masterclass was led by AI Workforce Specialist Christeen Padilla. A total of 98 PAGCOR employees from both corporate offices and field branches joined the orientation.
Padilla introduced Microsoft Copilot Chat as a secure AI-powered assistant designed to support day-to-day productivity. Key functions include drafting correspondence, summarizing reports, generating creative ideas, and addressing work-related queries. She also explained the difference between the free version of Copilot Chat, which draws on web-based responses, and the M365 Chat version, which produces organization-specific insights.
Employees with M365 Chat licenses gain access to additional features such as Researcher, Analyst, Prompt Coach, Writing Coach, Idea Coach, Career Coach, Learning Coach, Surveys, and Microsoft 365 Admin—tools that can further enhance collaboration and decision-making.
Citing industry figures, Padilla highlighted that 86 percent of AI chat application users in the Philippines had already adopted Copilot in 2024, showing the country’s rapid shift toward AI-driven workplace solutions.
Beyond showcasing Copilot’s capabilities, the briefing strongly emphasized responsible and ethical use. Governance safeguards were underscored, including strict compliance with enterprise data protection standards, adherence to organizational policies, and careful distinction between web-based information and internal company data to avoid security risks.
By engaging employees in conversations about both innovation and accountability, PAGCOR continues to promote safe, transparent, and future-ready use of AI tools across the organization.
