Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) chairman and CEO Alejandro H. Tengco led a major milestone on June 10 as he spearheaded the launch of Phase 2 construction of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, Inc. (PMAAAI) building at Fort Andres Bonifacio in Taguig City.

Set to rise as a six-story Center for Leadership Excellence, the future landmark aims to be a hub for shaping the next generation of military leaders. It’s a vision brought to life through a powerful public-private partnership, with a Php600 million funding commitment from Newport World Resorts Foundation—the CSR arm of one of PAGCOR’s licensed integrated resorts.

Tengco hailed the initiative as a shining example of how responsible gaming can play a transformative role in national development.

Alex Luna, chief security officer of the Newport World Resorts Foundation, Inc., and Travellers International Hotel Group, Inc.

“This is a game-changing project—built without costing the government a single centavo,” Tengco said. “It’s proof that with the right oversight, the gaming industry can be a force for good—fueling progress, leadership, and patriotism.”

PAGCOR initially greenlit P300 million to begin construction, followed by another P300 million to support the ongoing interior fit-out. When finished, the building will not only house PMAAAI’s headquarters but also host high-level leadership training, strategic forums, and institutional legacy-building programs for the country’s military elite.

Tengco emphasized the broader impact of the project: “This Center for Leadership Excellence will strengthen PMAAAI as an institution and empower generations of Armed Forces personnel. We’re building more than just a facility—we’re investing in the future of national leadership.”

He also reaffirmed PAGCOR’s ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces of the Philippines, pointing to other recent projects like the development of modern facilities at the Philippine Military Academy. These include a state-of-the-art warfare lab, expanded sports amenities, upgraded candidate liaison offices, and a new patient transport vehicle.

“This new PMAAAI facility is just one of many ways we’re working to support our men and women in uniform,” he added. “It’s what happens when public service and private enterprise unite for a common purpose—progress and patriotism.”
