
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued a warning on Saturday about dangerously high heat index levels expected in 19 areas across the country, with values ranging between 42°C and 45°C.
In its 5 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the heat index—a measure of how hot it feels when humidity is factored in with actual air temperature—could reach extreme levels in the following locations:
- Sangley Point, Cavite – 45°C
- Dagupan City, Pangasinan – 44°C
- ISU, Echague, Isabela – 43°C
- Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas – 43°C
- Iloilo City, Iloilo – 43°C
- TAU Camiling, Tarlac – 43°C
- NAIA, Pasay City – 42°C
- Science Garden, Quezon City – 42°C
- Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – 42°C
- Subic Bay, Olongapo City – 42°C
- San Ildefonso, Bulacan – 42°C
- Infanta, Quezon – 42°C
- San Jose, Occidental Mindoro – 42°C
- Cuyo, Palawan – 42°C
- Virac, Catanduanes – 42°C
- Masbate City, Masbate – 42°C
- Roxas City, Capiz – 42°C
- Dumangas, Iloilo – 42°C
- Dipolog, Zamboanga del Norte – 42°C
PAGASA strongly advised the public to minimize outdoor activities, especially around noon, stay hydrated, and wear protective clothing such as hats, long sleeves, and use umbrellas when outside.
The weather agency also noted that the easterlies—warm winds from the Pacific—will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms across the country.
Winds will be light to moderate, with slight to moderate sea conditions expected throughout the archipelago.
