The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said cloud bands from a low-pressure area outside the Philippine area of responsibility will affect parts of the country on Wednesday.

Pagasa reported that the trough linked to the weather system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, and Palawan.

The low-pressure area (LPA) was last monitored several hundred kilometers southwest of Pag-asa Island and is moving farther away from the country.

Apart from the trough, the state weather bureau said a shear line is expected to trigger intermittent rains and isolated thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and parts of Samar.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, or amihan, will bring light rains over the Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, and Aurora.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may also experience isolated light rains due to the same weather system, Pagasa said.

Meanwhile, the easterlies are forecast to cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Visayas, while parts of Mindanao may see isolated thunderstorms.

The agency said it is not monitoring any LPA or tropical cyclone inside the Philippine area of responsibility as of the latest bulletin.
