PAGASA: Tropical depression spotted east of Northern Luzon

A tropical depression has been spotted far east of Northern Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported early Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

In its 24-hour Tropical Cyclone Formation Outlook issued at 4 a.m., PAGASA said the tropical depression, formerly identified as Low Pressure Area (LPA) 10a, was located approximately 2,815 kilometers east of Northern Luzon as of 2 a.m.

The weather disturbance was packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

It was moving west-northwestward at 15 kph.

Based on PAGASA’s satellite imagery, the tropical depression remained well outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The state weather bureau has yet to indicate whether the weather system will enter PAR or directly affect any part of the country.

PAGASA continues to monitor the tropical depression’s movement and development as it tracks across the western Pacific.

Residents, particularly those in Northern Luzon, are advised to stay updated on official weather bulletins for possible changes in the weather system’s track and intensity.
