State meteorologists warned of potential flash floods and landslides on Sunday as the shear line and northeast monsoon continue to bring heavy rains across several regions of the Philippines.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that the shear line is currently bringing cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to Mimaropa, the Bicol Region, and Western Visayas.
Similar conditions are expected in Aurora, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, and portions of Samar.
PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda advised residents in these areas to monitor for moderate to heavy rainfall, which could trigger geological hazards.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, is affecting Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and parts of Central Luzon.
These areas will experience cloudy skies with light rains, though no significant impact is expected.
The remainder of Luzon will see fair weather with isolated light rains.
In Mindanao and other parts of the country, localized thunderstorms are likely to bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers throughout the day.
The state weather bureau also issued a gale warning for the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon due to strong winds.
No new low-pressure areas are currently being monitored following the dissipation of a weather disturbance on Saturday.
