The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has opened 100 permanent positions across the country to continue providing reliable weather forecasts.
Positions are available at offices in Quezon City, Pasay City, Aklan, Antique, Bataan, Camiguin, Isabela, La Union, Northern Samar, Quezon, Quirino, and Siquijor.
For the Weather Specialist I and II roles, applicants must have a degree in Engineering, Natural Sciences, or any field that includes Mathematics up to Integral Calculus, along with at least 6 units in Physics.
Those with a degree in Engineering or Information Technology are eligible to apply for the Weather Facilities Specialist II position.
Candidates for these roles must have completed the Meteorologist or Hydrologist Training Course (MTC/HTC), or hold a master’s or doctorate degree in meteorology or a related field.
Additionally, BS Meteorology graduates and individuals with a master’s or doctorate degree, but without the MTC/HTC, are required to complete a 3-month practicum at the Weather Forecasting Section.
Applicants for the Weather Observer and Facilities Technician positions must have completed the Meteorological Technicians Training Course (MTTC). For the Observer I and Facilities Technician I roles, the minimum educational requirement is two years of study, equivalent to 72 units. For higher-level Observer and Facilities Technician positions, a bachelor’s degree is required.
Elementary school graduates are eligible to apply for the Weather Observer Aide position, while high school graduates or individuals who have completed 2 years of college may apply for the Administrative Aide role.
