State weather bureau Pagasa said Tuesday it continued to monitor two low pressure areas east of Northeastern Mindanao, with one system expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the coming days while another showed potential to intensify into a tropical depression.

The weather bureau said the closer weather disturbance was last monitored about 1,085 kilometers east of Northeastern Mindanao and remained unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.

According to Pagasa, the system may still enhance rains over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao by Thursday, even if it does not significantly intensify.

They added that a second low pressure area was spotted farther east, around 2,585 kilometers from Northeastern Mindanao, and had a higher probability of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Forecasters said the second weather disturbance could enter PAR before the weekend, although it is not expected to directly affect the country over the next three to five days.

Meanwhile, Pagasa said easterlies continued to affect much of the country, bringing warm and humid conditions along with chances of isolated afternoon or evening rain showers and thunderstorms.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains were expected over Palawan and the Zamboanga Peninsula due to the prevailing easterlies, while Metro Manila and nearby areas were forecast to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies.

The agency added that hot and humid conditions were expected from morning until noon, with thunderstorm activity likely to develop later in the day. Pagasa also projected the heat index in Metro Manila to range from 38°C to 39°C, while higher readings under danger level conditions were forecast in several areas nationwide.
