BAGUIO CITY – The PAG-IBIG Ilocos Region is encouraging workers in the informal sector and students to join its One Plus One (OPO) raffle promo, which aims to expand membership and provide more individuals with fund benefits.
Merriam Pammitan, PAG-IBIG area head for Ilocos, said Thursday that the program targets market vendors, jeepney drivers, store clerks, overseas Filipino workers, migrant workers, and students. The campaign covers branches in Urdaneta, La Union, Vigan, Dagupan, Ilocos Norte, and Baguio.
“President Ferdinand (R.) Marcos Jr. wants inclusive access to services, which is why we are reaching out to encourage more individuals to become active members,” Pammitan said in a press conference.
She explained that OPO encourages active members to recruit new members, including family, friends, and neighbors.
These recruiters, referred to as “influencers,” are assigned unique codes. New members or those reactivating their membership use these codes when depositing savings, generating raffle tickets for both the influencer and the recruit.
“The grand prize is PHP500,000, with minor draws scheduled in March, June, and September, and the grand draw in December 2025,” Pammitan said.
Membership is open to individuals aged 18 and above.
“Napakarami pang manggagawa dito sa Pilipinas ang makikinabang kung magiging miyembro sila (There are still a lot of workers in the Philippines who will benefit if they become members),” she added.
Pammitan emphasized the fund’s advantages, including government-guaranteed, tax-free savings with up to 6.5 percent annual dividends, multi-purpose and calamity loans, and death benefits. Savings consist of personal and employer contributions, increasing total contributions over time.
“PAG-IBIG savings do not become dormant like bank accounts. They continue earning dividends and can be withdrawn upon retirement, disability, or death,” she said.
Philip Raymond Salem, Baguio branch head, said they are collaborating with organizations to encourage enrollment.
While there is no specific target, he said they aim to cover more individuals. (PNA)
