The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) has called on Filipino Muslims to offer prayers for “just and lasting peace” in the country as the Holy Month of Ramadan begins on March 2.
Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. emphasized the significance of Ramadan, describing it as a time for reflection on compassion, solidarity, and the pursuit of peace—values deeply ingrained in Filipino society.
“As this sacred month unfolds, our Muslim brothers and sisters around the world observe this period to strengthen their spiritual connection with Allah and reaffirm their commitment to sacrifice, dedication, and unity,” Galvez said in a statement.
He expressed hope that as the Muslim community reflects on the teachings of Islam, this time of devotion would also inspire collective prayers for enduring peace in the nation.
Galvez extended his well wishes to the Muslim community, hoping for their health, happiness, and prosperity during this holy period.
The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos confirmed that Ramadan in the Philippines will officially commence on Sunday after the crescent moon was not sighted on Friday.
