Working overseas should not make it harder to manage an SSS account or handle everyday finances. That is the idea behind the MySSS Card, which RCBC brought directly to Filipino workers during SSS Global Kabayan Day in Hong Kong.
At the September 12 to 14 event, RCBC helped OFWs apply for the card, which brings together access to SSS digital services, an RCBC DiskarTech banking account and a physical debit card. Instead of treating their government and banking needs as separate errands, members can use connected tools designed to make both easier to manage.
For OFWs balancing work abroad with financial responsibilities at home, that convenience matters. The digital account offers another way to manage money, while the card can be used for everyday payments.
RCBC also introduced SSS LoanLite, an upcoming feature on DiskarTech. Once launched, it will allow qualified SSS members to apply digitally for microloans from ₱1,000 to ₱20,000, with a maximum repayment term of 90 days. The service is still forthcoming, and access will depend on eligibility.
“Our goal is to make digital banking work for Filipinos wherever they may be,” said Lito Villanueva, RCBC executive vice president and chief innovation and inclusion officer. “For our OFWs, that means making essential financial services more accessible even when they are thousands of miles away from home.”
By assisting applicants in Hong Kong, RCBC and SSS gave OFWs a chance to explore the card and ask about its features while the service was within reach. Their partnership aims to make it simpler for Filipino workers abroad to stay connected to their SSS benefits and financial tools.
