Nxled looks to turn promise into polish as Chameleons test chemistry against Capital1

The early wins are already on the board, but for the Nxled Chameleons, the bigger objective is control — of rhythm, execution, and identity — as they continue their 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference campaign against the Capital1 Solar Spikers on Saturday night at the Ynares Center.

Nxled escaped its opening assignment with a hard-earned five-set victory, a result that underscored both the team’s depth and its growing pains. Despite boasting one of the deepest rosters in the league, the Chameleons needed patience and composure to put away Farm Fresh, a reminder that talent alone does not immediately translate to cohesion.

That is where Lyann De Guzman figures prominently. Slotted into an expanded role, the energetic opposite hitter provided timely points and defensive grit, complementing the established firepower of Brooke Van Sickle and Myla Pablo. For Nxled, De Guzman’s emergence offers more than scoring punch — it adds flexibility to an offense still finding its natural flow.

Head coach Ettore Guidetti leaned heavily on experimentation in the opener, giving all 14 players court time before settling on the familiar Petro Gazz championship core when the match tightened. The approach paid off in the win column, but Guidetti has been clear that sharper execution and faster starts remain non-negotiable goals moving forward.

Those details will be tested against a confident Capital1 side that has shown it can scrap with anyone on a given night. The Solar Spikers draw energy from their defensive discipline and the steady leadership of Bella Belen, who continues to anchor their attack with poise beyond her years. Capital1 may not carry the same star-studded reputation, but its ability to disrupt timing and extend rallies makes it a dangerous matchup for a team still refining its chemistry.\

For Nxled, a second straight win would mean more than an early 2–0 record. It would signal progress — proof that the Chameleons are beginning to translate depth into dominance and potential into consistency. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m., with both teams eager to show that their early-season narratives are headed in the right direction.
