NU Lady Bulldogs seek UAAP back-to-back titles

NU Lady Bulldogs Set Sights on UAAP Glory After Shakey’s Super League Triumph

Fresh off a dominant “three-peat” victory in the 2024 Shakey’s Super League, the National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs are ready to defend their crown in the UAAP next season.

Led by standouts Bella Belen and Alyssa Solomon, the Lady Bulldogs wrapped up the Collegiate Pre-Season Championship in style, clinching the best-of-three series against the De La Salle Lady Spikers. NU overcame a slow start in Game 2, securing a 23-25, 25-18, 25-16, 25-20 win last Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum. Their commanding 25-16, 25-12, 27-25 performance in Game 1 on Friday had already set the tone.

For head coach Sherwin Meneses, the championship was more than just a title—it was preparation for the bigger stage ahead.

“This win is exciting and crucial for our UAAP preparation,” said Meneses, who recently took the helm after NU’s National Invitationals triumph in July. “This was why we joined—to get ready for what’s next.”

Belen: MVP and Team Leader
Bella Belen continued to shine, earning both the Most Valuable Player and First Best Open Spiker honors. For the young star, the Super League victory was a step toward bigger goals.

“I’m happy we achieved what we set out to do in Shakey’s. It’s a stepping stone for the UAAP,” Belen shared. “We focused on what we needed to do, and the results followed.”

Focused on the Future
With their eyes on a second consecutive UAAP title, the Lady Bulldogs remain determined to stay ahead of the competition. Belen underscored the team’s drive to evolve.

“Our motivation is to keep moving forward and aiming higher,” Belen said. “The UAAP is the ultimate stage for college volleyball, and every team will bring their best. We’re ready to improve and rise to the challenge.”

As the Lady Bulldogs prepare for the upcoming UAAP season, they carry with them the confidence of champions and the determination to remain on top. For NU, the journey isn’t just about winning—it’s about continuing to grow, adapt, and dominate.
