Electricity consumers will see higher transmission charges in their February 2026 power bills after the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced a rate increase on Thursday.
In an advisory, NGCP said the overall average transmission rate climbed by 13.55 percent to P1.5279 per kilowatt-hour, from P1.3455 per kWh in the previous billing period.
The increase was driven by higher costs for both ancillary services and the transmission wheeling rate, the grid operator said.
Ancillary services, which cover power reserves sourced from the reserve market and bilateral contracts, rose to P0.6736 per kWh from P0.5971 per kWh.
Meanwhile, the transmission wheeling rate—the fee for delivering electricity through the national grid—increased to P0.6921 per kWh from P0.6058 per kWh.
NGCP said it charges end-users about 69 centavos per kWh for the delivery of its services, noting that its revenues are regulated and capped by the Energy Regulatory Commission.
Transmission charges incurred in the January billing period are passed on to consumers through distribution utilities and electric cooperatives, the company added.
