The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines has completed five transmission projects this year worth about Php 7.19 billion, while six more projects valued at around Php 23.54 billion are targeted for completion within the next 12 months.
Completed projects include the Nagsaag-Tumana 69-kilovolt transmission line in eastern Pangasinan, the Tacurong-Kalamansig 69-kV transmission line in Sultan Kudarat and the Laguindingan 230-kV substation in Misamis Oriental.
The Visayas Substation Reliability Project 2 and Visayas 69-kV transmission line upgrading projects have also been completed.
For the Luzon grid, ongoing projects include the Tuguegarao-Lal-lo or Magapit 230-kV transmission line and the North Luzon Substation Upgrading Project 1.
In the Visayas, NGCP is working on the Nabas-Caticlan-Boracay transmission line project in Aklan and the Panay-Guimaras 138-kV interconnection project.
In Mindanao, the remaining projects are the Mindanao Substation Expansion 4 Project and the Nasipit Substation Bus-in Project.
NGCP spokesperson Cynthia Alabanza said the company continues to upgrade transmission infrastructure to accommodate expanding service areas, additional power supply and new technologies.
She said grid development is a continuing process even after individual projects are completed.
