The newly renovated EDSA Busway Guadalupe Station officially opened to commuters and pedestrians on Friday, November 6, offering wider passenger areas and improved facilities aimed at making daily travel safer and more comfortable.
The station’s rehabilitation forms part of the Marcos administration’s efforts to modernize public transportation infrastructure and improve the commuting experience along EDSA.
Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the station previously had narrow passageways that made it difficult for passengers to move comfortably, particularly during peak hours.
According to Dizon, the old passenger walkway was less than half the width of the newly improved facility.
Following the renovation, the station now features more spacious passenger areas, cleaner surroundings, improved pedestrian access, and seating for commuters waiting for buses.
The improvements are expected to ease passenger movement and provide a more convenient waiting environment for thousands of commuters using the EDSA Busway.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the rehabilitation supports President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to prioritize commuter welfare and improve the quality of public transportation services.
The upgraded station is also intended to address congestion and provide a more orderly environment for passengers boarding and alighting from buses.
The government is targeting the rehabilitation and improvement of all EDSA Busway stations before the end of Marcos’ term.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the EDSA Busway system, which serves as a major public transportation corridor connecting commuters to key destinations across Metro Manila.
With the reopening of the Guadalupe Station, commuters can now use the upgraded facilities as the government continues improvements at other stations along the busway.
