A new pet travel system launched in the Philippines is setting a higher standard for animal safety during travel, utilizing technology originally designed for children. Tavo, a global pet mobility brand developed by the creators of Dutch baby gear company Nuna, introduced its Maeve 3-in-1 pet travel system this month, claiming it to be the first pet car seat in the country crash-tested to international child safety standards.
“We know how deeply Filipinos love their pets — they’re part of the family,” stated Austin Hodges, global chief marketing officer at Nuna Baby. “With Tavo, we’re proud to extend our legacy of child safety innovation to our furry companions, offering them the same level of protection we’ve long provided for children.”
The Maeve car seat has been tested to comply with United Nations ECE R129 regulations, which is the same benchmark used for child car restraints. The seat features impact-resistant materials, shock-absorbing technology, and smart harness points designed to minimize injury during sudden stops or collisions. It is paired with an ISOFIX-compatible base and can be used with a foldable stroller frame, the Roscoe, for seamless mobility. “Protection is what makes the Maeve such a must-have,” said Helen Johnson, marketing director at Tavo Pets. “It’s not just about keeping your pet safe; it’s about protecting everyone in the vehicle and creating a stress-free, comfortable environment on every trip.”
The launch of the Maeve system aligns with the Bureau of Animal Industry’s ongoing campaign for responsible pet ownership. Under the Animal Welfare Act (Republic Act No. 8485), pet owners are legally obligated to ensure the health and safety of their animals, including during travel.
Now available in over 23 countries, Tavo’s entry into the Philippine market reflects a growing demand for safe and stylish pet gear. The Maeve system comes in premium colorways such as Onyx, Fawn, and Merle, with vegan leather stroller accents in Black and Chocolate.
Products are available at the Nuna store in Greenbelt 5, Makati, and at Luxuri Pets by Aivee in Parañaque starting in August, as well as online through Shopee.
