Farmers and residents of Barangay Cabaruan in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte now enjoy better mobility and easier access to markets and essential services following the completion of a PHP29.8-million farm-to-market road.
Located just 1.7 kilometers from the town proper, the new road is expected to stimulate economic growth and enhance local livelihoods in the rural community.
Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Ilocos Norte 1st District engineer Glenn Miguel said on Friday that the construction included stone masonry and a 0.23-meter-thick concrete pavement.
Residents expressed relief at the improved conditions. This was a rough road before, often flooded and rarely used).”
It is better now because travel is faster, unlike before when we used a lot of fuel. This road has brought significant benefits to us).”
The new farm-to-market road is expected to improve transport efficiency, reduce travel costs, and enhance access to goods and services, helping Barangay Cabaruan thrive economically.
