The National Capital Region Police Office plans to cut the duration of the 2026 Traslacion from over 20 hours last year to about 10 to 12 hours.
Police Major Hazel Asilo, head of NCRPO-Public Information Office, said preparations are focused on security while ensuring the smooth movement of the Jesus Nazareno image from Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church.
“‘Iyong goal natin na mas mabilis natin maipasok. From 20 hours noong nakaraang taon, ang goal natin ngayon is kalahatiin natin kahit from 10 to 12 hours man lamang,” Asilo said.
She added that the speed of the procession will depend on the situation on the ground and the coordination between police and the hijos who carry the andas.
The route will largely follow the 2025 path, but authorities are implementing measures to make the procession more efficient.
About 15,000 police officers are expected to be deployed for the event, which falls on January 9, a Friday.
NCRPO said regular walkthroughs of the route have been conducted and that security measures remain on heightened alert to ensure a safe and faster procession.
