The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reports no specific security threats yet for the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution on February 25. Intelligence monitoring and threat assessments are ongoing as part of preparations.

NCRPO Spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo says deployment plans are still being finalized, so the exact number of police personnel to be assigned has not yet been determined. She assures the public that the deployment will be sufficient and appropriate for the situation on the day of the event.

Security will focus on critical areas, including the EDSA corridor and major convergence points such as SM Mall of Asia and White Plains Avenue in Quezon City.

Addressing concerns about “overkill” deployments, Asilo says the NCRPO follows a risk-based approach. Police presence is intended to ensure public safety and maintain order, not to intimidate or interfere with peaceful gatherings.

She adds that officers will strictly observe operational procedures and respect human rights, with enforcement actions used only as a last resort in unforeseen incidents.

The NCRPO continues to coordinate internally and with local authorities to ensure a smooth and secure commemoration, emphasizing preparedness without creating unnecessary alarm.
