The National Capital Region Police Office (National Capital Region Police Office) has reminded all police personnel that frequenting bars, casinos, cockfighting arenas, and other illegal establishments is strictly prohibited, stressing that such behavior undermines public trust and the integrity of the police service.
In a recent advisory, the NCRPO called on the public to remain vigilant and to immediately report any police officer seen engaging in these activities through the Unified 911 Hotline. The regional police command said public reporting plays a crucial role in ensuring swift action, accountability, and transparency within the force.
NCRPO chief Police Major General Anthony A. Aberin warned that any officer found to be involved in illegal gambling or similar activities will face both administrative sanctions and possible criminal charges. He emphasized that discipline and ethical conduct are non-negotiable standards for those entrusted with enforcing the law.
The reminder aligns with the Philippine National Police primer on Personal Decorum, which outlines the conduct, values, and professional behavior expected of all police personnel. The guidelines apply not only in official duties but also in personal settings, including interactions with family, colleagues, subordinates, and superiors.
According to the PNP, public officials and employees are duty-bound to place public interest above personal interest at all times. For police officers, this responsibility carries greater weight, as their actions directly shape public perception of law enforcement.
Police decorum, the NCRPO noted, is designed to address the unique ethical demands of police work. Officers are expected to act as role models in their communities, consistently upholding principles of accountability, integrity, and respect for the law both on and off duty.
