The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) assured the public Monday that police personnel remain on alert to respond to security threats and emergencies as the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day (Undas) draws to a close.

As of noon on November 2, the NCRPO reported that the November 1 observance was generally peaceful and orderly across Metro Manila, with thousands of families visiting cemeteries, memorial parks and columbaria to honor their departed loved ones.

NCRPO officer-in-charge Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano said police personnel would continue monitoring key areas, particularly transportation terminals and roads experiencing heavy traffic as travelers return home.

“As families continue their journey home after ‘Undas,’ the NCRPO assures the public that its personnel will remain ready to respond to emergencies, maintain peace and order, and provide assistance wherever needed,” Abrahano said in a statement.

He emphasized that police units would remain on full alert to ensure public safety during the expected influx of returning passengers.

Abrahano also urged the public to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious activities or emergencies to the nearest police officer or police station.

He specifically warned cemetery visitors against individuals who might take advantage of the occasion through fraudulent activities, including those impersonating religious ministers and offering unauthorized prayers or blessings in exchange for money.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Army (PA), in coordination with government agencies and other stakeholders, paid tribute to fallen heroes through wreath-laying, candle-lighting and flag-setting ceremonies at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, on October 31.

According to the Philippine Army, the synchronized candle-lighting and flaglet-setting activities honored soldiers, national heroes, artists, scientists and former presidents buried at the national cemetery.

The Army said approximately 54,568 remains had been interred at the Libingan ng mga Bayani as of October 29.

The ceremonies formed part of the country’s annual Undas observance, recognizing the sacrifices and contributions of Filipinos who served the nation.

The NCRPO reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and order as families complete their cemetery visits and return to their respective communities.
