The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said it had mobilized hundreds of officers to ensure security during the observance of Ramadan in Metro Manila.
In a press briefing at Camp Crame on Wednesday, NCRPO spokesperson Maj. Hazel Asilo said a total of 354 police personnel would be deployed across key areas.
Of the number, 224 officers were designated to provide security coverage in 103 mosques and various places of worship throughout the National Capital Region.
An additional 130 personnel were assigned to monitor and assist in 74 Muslim communities in the region, she added.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) earlier announced that security presence would be intensified in areas with large gatherings of worshippers during Ramadan and Lent.
Part of the plan included the activation of Salaam Police Center units to strengthen community engagement and support.
Authorities also prepared to establish 24/7 police assistance desks in major mosques to address concerns and ensure public safety.
Ramadan, observed through fasting, prayer, and reflection by Muslims worldwide, begins on Thursday, Feb. 19.
