The stage is set. The spirit is rising. NCAA’s centennial celebration hits its high point with the much-anticipated NCAA Season 100 Cheerleading Competition—airing live this Thursday, May 22, at 2:30 p.m. on GTV.
As the NCAA celebrates 100 years of athletic excellence, this year’s cheerleading showcase is more than a competition—it’s a tribute to a century of school pride, performance artistry, and the evolution of cheerleading into one of the most electrifying spectacles in Philippine sports.
Held at the Mall of Asia Arena, the event promises a showcase of strength, synchronization, and school spirit. From jaw-dropping stunts to gravity-defying pyramids, this year’s lineup features powerhouse routines from nine participating squads:
- Benilde Blazers Pep Squad – De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde
- Altas Perpsquad – University of Perpetual Help System-Dalta
- Mapua Cheerping Cardinals – Mapúa University
- Letran Cheering Squad – Colegio de San Juan de Letran
- Golden Stags Cheerleading Squad – San Sebastian College-Recoletos
- JRU Pep Squad – José Rizal University
- AU Chiefsquad – Arellano University
- EAC Generals Pep Squad – Emilio Aguinaldo College
- San Beda Red Corps – San Beda University
Though not vying for the title, the LPU Pirates Pep Squad of Lyceum of the Philippines University will wow the crowd with a special non-competing performance.
A legacy to defend
All eyes are on Arellano University’s Chiefsquad, who are aiming for their sixth straight title after dominating Season 99. Last year, they edged out the Altas Perpsquad and the Letran Cheering Squad, who placed second and third, respectively. Will the Chiefsquad extend their dynasty, or will a new champion rise in this milestone season?
Apart from school pride and legacy, this year’s top squads are competing for major prizes:
- Champion – ₱100,000
- First Runner-Up – ₱75,000
- Second Runner-Up – ₱50,000
But beyond the cash and trophies, it’s the roar of the crowd and the spirit of competition that drive these athletes to push the boundaries of what cheerleading can be.
Voices of support
“NCAA Season 100 is about more than tradition—it’s about transformation,” shares NCAA Management Committee Chairman Hercules Callanta. “These athletes are redefining school pride and athleticism in a single performance. It’s an inspiring moment for the entire collegiate community.”
GMA Network, which has long supported local sports through GMA Synergy, echoes the sentiment. “This isn’t just cheerleading. It’s performance art, sportsmanship, and national pride in motion,” says Oliver Victor B. Amoroso, Senior VP and Head of GMA Integrated News, Regional TV, and Synergy.
Hosting duties will be led by Martin Javier, Lexi Gonzales, and Glycel Galpo, with a special musical number from Sparkle artist Chanty to hype the crowd between routines.
