Around 1.25 million passengers are expected to pass through Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) from October 27 to November 4 as travelers head to their provinces and other destinations for the Undas holiday.

The projected passenger volume is slightly higher than the 1.24 million recorded during the same period last year, according to the San Miguel Corp.-led New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC).

In a statement Monday, NNIC said passenger traffic is expected to peak on October 30, with approximately 149,000 travelers.

To manage the holiday rush, the airport operator will strengthen security measures and coordinate closely with airlines, ground handlers, transportation providers, and government agencies.

A 24-hour command center at Terminal 2 will monitor airport operations and coordinate immediate responses to disruptions.

Security personnel will also intensify patrols at terminal entrances, parking areas, and passenger loading zones, supported by K-9 units and stricter access controls.

Additional immigration, customs, and quarantine counters will be opened during peak travel periods to help reduce passenger congestion.

NNIC said public assistance desks will operate around the clock at the arrival and departure areas of all three terminals.

More traffic marshals, porters, and baggage carts will also be deployed to improve passenger movement and baggage handling.

Meanwhile, airport authorities will coordinate aircraft parking arrangements to accommodate additional and unscheduled flights while minimizing delays.

Operations teams will continuously monitor aircraft movements, baggage handling, check-in counters, boarding gates, and terminal entrances to identify and address potential bottlenecks.

NNIC said the preparations aim to ensure smoother airport operations and safer, more convenient travel for passengers during the Undas holiday period.
