ELECTRIFYING PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN MEGAWORLD TOWNSHIPS. Movem Electric, Inc. teamed up with property giant Megaworld to usher in a new era of clean and sustainable transportation in the latter’s townships, starting with McKinley Hill in Taguig City.

Movem Electric, Inc.—the fully owned electric mobility arm of Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Meralco—is driving a major clean transport push for Megaworld as the two companies team up to electrify the property giant’s Citylink bus fleet across multiple townships.

The partnership will see Movem’s electric buses (e-buses) integrated directly into the daily operations of CityLink Coach Services Inc., Megaworld’s transport operator serving residents, office workers, and commuters shuttling in and out of its master-planned communities in Metro Manila.

Megaworld has already launched its pilot run at McKinley Hill in Taguig, where the first e-bus began service in April. A second unit is scheduled to begin operations in Newport City, Pasay, this December. The long-term plan: a full overhaul of the Citylink fleet, supported by Movem’s turnkey EV expertise, with future deployments in Uptown Bonifacio and Megaworld’s townships in the Visayas.

Nine additional e-buses are set for rollout by 2026, accelerating Megaworld’s transition to a modern, emission-free fleet. Each vehicle can carry 24 seated and 11 standing passengers and will initially operate alongside internal combustion engine (ICE) buses, which will be phased out gradually as electrification scales.

To ensure seamless operations, Movem is also preparing EV charging infrastructure tailored for Megaworld’s fleet, supporting efficient charging, enhanced route reliability, and maximum uptime.

“This partnership is a vital step towards fulfilling our vision of building sustainable townships across the Philippines. Providing innovative mobility solutions is essential for the people who live, work, and play in our communities. This collaboration with Movem marks the beginning of making that vision real,” said Don Earl Caagbay, Megaworld Head of Estate Management.

The alliance reflects a shared commitment between Movem and Megaworld to champion green mobility within high-density districts—cutting carbon emissions, reducing noise pollution, and delivering smoother, more comfortable rides for thousands of daily passengers.

As demand for eco-friendly transport surges nationwide, the initiative sets a strong example for other developers, estates, and commercial hubs aiming to modernize their fleets and adopt smarter, cleaner mobility systems.

“We remain committed to supporting Megaworld in accelerating their electric mobility initiatives. By working with forward-thinking partners, we can drive the Philippines’ journey toward cleaner and greener transportation,” said Movem Chief Operating Officer Maria Francesca Defensor.
